Raqs Akia's classes are held at the Springdale Youth Center in the Dance Room.  At this time, classes are only taught in English.


Troupe Meeting

Wednesday nights 7:00 pm-8:00 pm

This is a time for troupe members to rehearse for performances and create new choreography.


Beginning Class

Saturday mornings 10:00 am-11:00 am - Choreography class

This class is an introduction to the art of Middle Eastern dance and is open to ages 12 and up. It focuses on beginning movements and posture while students learn in the context of a complete routine as well as costuming basics.  Students may have the chance to perform at the end of the session.


Advanced Class

Saturday mornings 11:15 am-12:15 pm 

This class is a continuation of the beginning class with more emphasis on advanced movements, the use of props, and performance.  Students must have instructors permission to join and be at least 12 years old.  Sometimes this class requires special equipment and the instructor will advise on what to obtain.

Registration ends the third week of class. Class fees are non-refundable.

Inclement weather policy: If Springdale area schools are closed we will not have classes.  If it is a Saturday, call the Youth Center to see if they are open (479) 750-8185.

Note:  When you leave the class room you MUST wear shoes and your abdominal area must be covered.
