Raqs Akia's classes are held at the Springdale Youth Center in the Blue Room. At this time, classes are only taught in English.
Beginning Classes
Tuesday nights 6:00 pm-7:00 pm - Choreography class
Thursday nights 6:00 pm-7:00 pm - Choreography class
Saturday mornings 9:00 am-10:00 am - Choreography class
This class is an introduction to the art of Middle Eastern dance and is open to ages 12 and up.
Week night classes focus on beginning movements and posture while students learn in the context of a complete routine as well as costuming basics. Students may have the chance to perform at the end of the session.
Saturday morning classes focus on technique of movements in order to develop performance level skills.
Advanced Classes
Tuesday nights 7:00 pm-8:00 pm - Choreography class
Thursday nights 7:00 pm-8:00 pm - Choreography class
Saturday mornings 10:00 am-11:00 am - Technique class
This class is a continuation of Belly Dance I with more emphasis on advanced movements, the use of props, and performance. Students must have completed a year of beginning classes and be 12 years old and up.
In week night classes students will learn a fusion routine choreographed by Anala Rabari.
Saturday morning classes focus on technique of movements in order to develop execution of advanced moves and performance skills.
Pricing:
You will be buying class cards as follows:
$20 for an 8 class card
$32 for a 16 class card
$36 for a 24 class card
You do not have to be a member of the youth center in order to take classes.
You will be asked to buy a card for beginning classes and advanced classes (they will be different colors). If you plan to attend multiple days of classes we recommend buying one of the higher class cards. As always the first class is free.

Inclement weather policy: If Springdale area schools are closed we will not have classes. If it is a Saturday, call the Youth Center to see if they are open (479) 750-8185.
Note: When you leave the class room you MUST wear shoes and your abdominal area must be covered.
